Pain formed in my wrist. It felt sore. Then it was throbbing. Too soon after, it was my turn in line. I listened to my fear. Instead I just observed how each corner flew into the next. The wind thundered for only my ears to listen. I gracefully snagged my hat as I flew by. It went way smoother then fear had expected.


Turns out I had a sprained wrist and ended up in 52nd place for that race. But this was my first year at Junior Olympics and I only had one goal. I faced my fear, and beat that hill.
